Our Encounter With Making Twine for Bolsas ~
Making Rope for Bolsas
(back to Supplier Visit heading, back to Product page)
Using Maguey (What We in Texas Call Century Plant) Fibers to Make Twine
The children feed shredded Maguey fiber into a 'shaper' and also hold the line taut. Note the finished bundles of cord to Ana's left in the background and Ana is standing in front of a finished bag (hanging from side of hill behind her to the left). Sometimes they weave horse hair (from mane and tail) into a length of line to add decoration to a finished bolsa.
Our Chance Encounter With Rope Making for Bolsas
The Father walks away from the fiber tree as he 'spins' the twine. (Sorry not to have a better photo but will add some more later).
