We like items built with tin because we like Christmas and we like toys. Tin Toys are everywhere in Mexico. The use of tin in the manufacturing of toys is a long tradition in Mexico; especially in Oaxaca. It never ceases to amaze us the creativity of the artisan in making tin toys. Although we procure Tin Toys from formal sources, it is not uncommon to see beautiful pieces for sale at the market, or in the street, made from soda cans by an individual seeking a little more income for the family.

Chrismas and Tin are also synonymous with Mexico. In Celaya and San Miguel de Allende, Tin is embossed not only to create exquisite frames but also Christmas objects, all painted in bright colors, that give a special touch to the Christmas tree, Nativity Scenes and Madonna figures. They have always been popular in our family and are handicrafts unique to Mexico.

Tin objects are very pervasive in Mexican daily life other than as toys and for Christmas. Artisans who work Tin throughout the country produce a wide variety of objects for every day use including chandeliers, mirror frames, portrait frames, boxes, lamps, plates and trays .
