Equipales, a Casual Look Inside and a Formal Look Outside - We Love Them
Equipales - Armchairs
Dating back to Pre Columbian times and today very popular in their own right, Equipales are ideal for sun rooms, courtyards and other airy settings. Made in Jalisco, they are very durable furniture pieces. They are constucted of hard wood, reinforced with rose wood, then covered with seats of tanned pig or lamb skin; Equipales are very stylish pieces. Those made today are the same sturdy and practical designs as made before the Spanish came to Mexico. These items will last longer than any furniture you have and are just as comfortable.
Equipales have a long history of practical daily use; originally made by native Indians from sugar canes covered with deer, puma or jaguar skins, in time their design structure was commercialized by switching to hardwood materials. Equipales are indeed an ancient artform. They are as durable as their history is long and rich and you see them in many homes with and without colorful cushions.
